even with an exension marner wouldnt be worth all that to vegas. a very strong goalie, elite D and very cheap good 3rd lineC. domi is a bit cheap here even on a team friendly deal hes getting 4+ at least. pesce is worth a bit more too. roy would be interesting for the leafs but no world u get both. lindholm also just doesnt make sense. bert would be a much better player to keep if there getting roy and have cowan and a cheap tJT who will probably take a 3-4M deal to stay a leaf.

Ok so Vegas are in same boat both Thompson and Theodore are up next year no shot they can afford both. Roy is a cap casualty to make it fair.

Pesce wants 6x6 no shot he gets it from a good team, since he turned down 5x5 at beginning of season I think 5.85 is close to his want that makes sense. Domi wants term if he wants to stay a leaf I don’t see them going over 4+ with term.

Also Lindholm makes perfect sense a solid 2nd line C who gets 7.5 mil on a prove it contract so he can get paid after playing in Toronto. Like everyone else does. This also moves Tavares to the wing

Yeah, he can walk if he doesn't get a 10% raise . Reaves isn't on LTIR Leafs just really don't know the trade value of Marner. He's the 5th highest paid player, but he certainly isn't the 5th BEST player. Theodore is a 60 point Dman making less than half of 95 point winger Marner. Theodore alone is great value cap is worth more than Marner alone.
It's poor math to think Vegas can't afford Thompson and Theodore. You having Marner making 11.5m.... Certainly Vegas could resign Thompson and Theodore for 11.5m

Tavares isnt a winger. hes far to good in the dot to play wing. Lindholm already has multiple teams that are going to give him 7-8m with 4-7 years. getting paid only works if nobody wants to pay u at first. domi and bert worked because nobody would give them 4.5+ with term. pesce will easily get 6M from a good team looking to add a top 4RD

i think theadore + forward for marner makes sense with maybe a future depth pick or 2 somewhere in the deal but adding a really good cheap goalie is just far to much

I don't think one year of Marner is worth one year of Theodore. Vegas can use that 5.7m cap difference to resign Stephenson or whoever.
If I was the Leafs, I would jump at a Theodore/Marner one for one trade. 5.75m cap difference. can get either another competenet RHD or a good UFA winger.
And really what is Marner's $$$ value. You know what the 4th BEST right winger in the league makes. 9.5m. Marner makes 11m and wants more.

Vegas makes the most sense for a Marner trade. The only offensive player they have is Eichel and Marner can complement him extremely well it makes total sense to do a trade like this especially for Vegas. If the trade is 1 for 1 Vegas accepts instantly.

Tavares is to slow to be a 2C, also no team other then the bottom 10 is giving lindholm 8mil plus term after the season he just had

you are being a toronto homer. there are multiple playoff teams that will be willing to give him at least 7.5 with term. Bos is easily 1 of them. Tor will not get him unless there giving him 9+ for 1 year.

Not sure if they edited it but it's the 2025 2nd, not 2024. Still probably somewhere in the 33-37 range, though and the Sharks still decline.
