Détails additionnels:
Buffalo parts with 11OA and bets on Farabee returning surplus value over the remaining four years - his prime years, covering his age 24 through 28 seasons - of his deal. As part of the trade, Buffalo moves up from 43OA to 32OA, which is considered to be around the point in this draft where there is a drop off.

I could see the sabres doing this, but a part of me still thinks 11 gets moved to ditch skinner's contract first before they add anyone.

If they sign Konecny, which they will and should imo, it does seem Farabee is the only piece available to get another top 13 pick. I also think Farabee would be good enough to get either the Devils or Sabres pick compared to what any other rebuilding teams (Calgary, for instance) would be able to throw at them—otherwise I think you’re looking at Tippett territory which is definitely a bridge too far imo. But I like Farabee’s contract and upside, and I hope Danny can find a way to keep him. That could mean just trading to move up a few spots to secure Helenius, Catton, or Lindstrom (imo their targets for Michkov’s center), I’d certainly give up our 2025 first if that could be worked out.

Caps have a logjam at RD and Ceci is not an upgrade.

That very well might be the priority, but I could see the end result being something similar to this trade. As a Flyers fan, I've watched Farabee quite a bit over the years, and I can't stop but think there is more to tap into there. I'm just not sure it will happen in Philly. He's entering his prime years and would be surrounded by more high level talent in Buffalo. That should translate to more production, and he fits Buffalo's timeline better than any prospect they draft at 11OA. I think this is a worthwhile trade for both teams.

Negative interest from EDM in Laughton or that trade in general. Achieves nothing positive for the team and actually sets them back.

Should have mentioned that could be to any team. The idea is just to get off of Ceci since he makes too much $ to be a 7th or 8th defenseman.

even if i believed that, ownership wont let them do it until theyve moved the skinner contract first. It would look something like dropping from 11th to 18th ovr with chicago taking skinner and then i guess 18th and something for farabee.

It might set them back in the long term, but they better be thinking short term if they want to win a Cup before the contention window shuts in two years.

Their aim in moving on from Ceci is to afford a better player at 2RD. Adding Laughton does little to nothing for the team and costs them the cap flexibility they need.

I can’t see Buffalo making this trade, primarily due to Farabee’s position being something we have plenty of already. He’s not a true Power Forward either which detracts from our interest.

Want #11, it starts with either Konecny or Couturier(3mil retained)

Just don't see Farabee's value to give up a lottery pick. Maybe a late 1st. But not top 15.
Think something else would be owed to buffalo for 11oa.

Interesting. I thought Buffalo fans had an issue with trading 11 for Konecny due to his contract situation. As a Flyers fan, for those reasons, I'd much rather swap Konecny for Farabee. even though Konecny is the better player right now, but I'd probably want a center prospect plus 11 (and I'd be willing to add reasonable draft capital or a helpful bottom six player).
