Any team getting Ehlers would be acquiring him for a full year, as opposed to acquiring him at the deadline so his price will be higher than this. Also, correct me if I am wrong but isn't Pageau viewed as more of a cap dump?

Not sure they'd take Mayfeild after watching last season. If a trade is a sign & trade kind of deal I can see it being Pulock who goes and maybe brings a 3rd or 4th back with Ehlers

Now that you mention it, that does make more sense to target Pulock instead.

I’m just trying to come at this from a realistic perspective. Pulock is almost certainly not being moved so the only other player than could be moved to match salary a little is Pageau. I’d be fine with moving Mayfield, but he also has a NTC and plus I’m not sure you actually should want him lol. So IF there was a deal between the Isles and Jets it would almost certainly have to look like this plus maybe a pick extra or whatever. I think that might be able to get it done but another team could certainly put bid them.

True and that’s probably more realistic if you guys wouldn’t want Pageau but then that would leave a basically all picks return which Ik you guys don’t necessarily want. Idk if this trade is as good as a fit as people think it is but there’s been speculation about this for a while

Oh, yeah, personally, I've never seen NYI/WPG as good trade partners. Both teams are pretty much in the same place, so only a hockey trade would make sense, but NYI players are so hard to move with all their NMC/NTCs. Dobson is the only real target for me, but I know how untouchable he is.

Tbh I have a feeling Ehlers won’t sign an extension anywhere for a sign and trade because he believes he can prove to be more valuable in the upcoming season than in years past.

The jets have all the leverage because they are a team playing for the cup and can just keep him as an own rental if the price doesn’t get better than this.
