Description
Welp I was going to over analyze this for another week but with the news I might as well put it out there. I've based the trades off of ones I've seen from non-Canes fans that made sense to the team or, in the case of Guentzal, are heavily implied by insiders.

Going into July 1st our main gaps are primarily our middle six wingers and a pair of 2nd or 3rd pairing defensemen. In addition the hope would be to clear out some of our unbalanced cap areas (ie Kuzy, KK, and maybe Andersen). This roster also works with keeping Andersen and not signing Stolarz as the backup. I've attempted to base contracts off of projected contract value for next year mixed with input from some fans on a players actual value (for example Drouin's projection is 5mil+ based on this last season but most Avs fans think he won't get much more the 3.5-4 mil based on his career path).

Andersen for Kaliyev and a pick was floated a few times but honestly like I said above this is the most fluid of the trades. It could be Andersen to any team that's willing to take a gamble on a rather streaky goalie. It could be for just a pick, Andersen for just Kaliyev or a similar depth player anywhere, or not at all. I do think his hot streak at the end of the season will help a bit but not a crazy amount.

I've seen the KK for Smith swap in whole or parts in numerous Pen's ACGM pages so that solves one of the missing winger issues and relieves some cap. It also works if we take on a larger portion of Smith's contract especially if we didn't trade Andersen and just signed a cheaper 7th defenseman. I just went with half because I saw that the most.

I based the Necas trade off of the idea that it could be similar to the PLD to LA trade and that one of the centerpieces we could target would be Evangalista. This is another one where the pick could be variable or not at all.

The Drury trade is solely because he became redundant once I had Stephenson and Novak in the middle six center spots. Drury for Jokiharju fit this roster better than the Drury for Kakko trades I saw.

As much as I've enjoyed Kuzy here he became another redundancy down the middle and I saw at least one Boston ACGM that had interest in him for a late round pick. Really it could be for FC if it clears out a slot in the lineup.

I’m told Evangelista is Nashville’s version of Jarvis so they probably say no. And trading a guy you paid a 3rd for for a 5th isn’t good business, otherwise I’m just going to enjoy every last post on here the next 3 weeks and not complain too much

All things considered, Chicago rejects. A mid round pick is more likely to be a 2025 4th round pick in this case.

I personally wouldn’t give up anything more than a 7th round pick for a player’s negotiating rights.

Who wants to trade away a draft pick for the rights to Guentzel? I would be surprised if the Hurricanes find any buyers. The trade with the Penguins now begins to benefit the Penguins.

NSH isn't taking that trade. Evangelista is likely a non-starter. He is one of NSH's best young pieces and will be part of NSH's future for a long time, especially based on how he did this last season. While adding in Novak with how bad NSH's center situation is it just doesn't make sense.

Novak is bad at center, but Necas is worse and with NSH's top prospects likely still one more year out from NHL debut the timing is just poor

Teams do that all the time. And sure, maybe the pens will get good value from that trade, but those prospects won’t really be missed much by us. We still have great pool and all our firsts the next 3 years
