According to Friedman, Lindholm could make 7 years, $7M from Vancouver. My guess is his number is going to be closer to 8 than 7 and maybe exceed 8.

It’s our biggest hole and I believe playing next to Pasta unlocks what we saw in both the playoffs this year and when he was running with both MT and JG. It’s paying a premium, but I do believe it has the biggest impact on the current structure of the team

For me still weak on Offense. One addition to a team that couldn’t score enough in the playoffs or on the PP.
If we are a “win now “ team, rather get players back for Ullmark.
Also, team gets older and slower, not great.

I think sending ullmark for chychrun would actually help out more in this case. i like having poitras higher in the lineup, I'm not a fan of that debrusk contract. Too much term and maybe a little too much money. I know hes a great all around player but the 6 years scares me. I'd probably give him 4 years, keep him until hes 31-32 (october birthday) rather than until hes 34. 2 years can make a huge difference. Also not a fan of the alec martinez deal. It is cheap but the bruins are trying to get younger and alec martinez is almost the exact opposite of that at 36.

I’m curious about what Sweeneys ceiling is for Lindholm
If he’s gonna get 8mil+ I wouldn’t go over 5 years but they might not have much of a choice
They can’t stand pat at C for another season and the trade market could have some value but most Centers in free agency have some considerable flaws

Chychrun is bad defensively and his shooting game would help but it would be a mistake to trade Ullmark for him 1 for 1 especially if there could be another team offering a 1st
With Lohrei making the jump this season it isn’t worth getting Chychrun because his next contract will be too big and it will effectively block Lohrei in the future
I can understand the appeal of Chychrun but he just isn’t a long term fit for the Bruins and if that’s all they can get for Ullmark it would be more of the same poor asset management from Sweeney
DeBrusk I’m cautious of as well and I’d probably prefer a guy like Toffoli over him but I wanted to see what the lineup could look like if he was brought back
As far as the Martinez deal I think for the bottom pairing it makes sense to give him a cheap 1 year deal but there’s plenty of other similar options at that price range

This is too ironic, the one time I say chychrun might be a better choice someone tells me the same thing I've been trying to say. I dont like chychrun for the time line and he blocks lohrei's growth path. As for Martinez, I just would like to see a younger defenseman with the same capabilties. I agree with just about everything you've said here though.

My guess with Lindholm, it will be 7 years and closer to 8M

Unlike most, I believe PLD is higher on the list than many would be comfortable with.

Yeah bringing back DeBrusk certainly isn’t my first choice but I’m also weary of signing a bunch of aging middle six wingers

They definitely need to bring in more scoring but there just doesn’t seem to be a lot value in the free agent market to spend the cap space on

I honestly wouldn’t be too upset if they saved a decent amount of their cap space this offseason because I see a lot of future cap dumps from this free agent class and unless they’re targeting Guentzel I’m not sure the legit top 6 scorer is out there

The trade market is much more appealing with guys like Ehlers Necas and Buchnevich but the Bruins probably get priced out of those deals

I’m afraid of that as well I don’t think they see through the illusion of his “power forward” game
It also wouldn’t surprise me if Sweeney and Neely thought they could fix him grimace

Yeah I’d be happy with signing a younger guy to a bit more term instead of Martinez

I think we need to maintain about half of Ullmark’s salary as expiring.

I think we need to have about 2.5M in 1 year contracts for one player to have available in 2025-2026 for cap health with our pending FA’s and ELC expirings

you picked a really weird way of saying, "don't commit too much in cap to 25-26"
