I don't see Filip Hronek being the type of #1 RhD that Pat Verbeek has in mind, but that trade certainly is within the realm of reason.

I originally thought the same but then I was looking at Anaheim more and got more convinced he could be a decent fit. He's young enough to be a leader but still fit in with the young core. He's a good puck mover but not a PP1 guy so it still leaves room for Zellweger on PP1. I think he could be a good longer term partner for Mintyukov. And he is kind of a longer term replacement for Fowler.

Hronek regressing this season from last yr shows his prob a high end 2 RD not a 1 RD so ANH says no bc that extension will be 1 RD money. Utah takes that and runs with it

To be completely honest with you, I will confess that I have a sneaking suspicion that our (speaking collectively of me and my fellow Anaheim stalwarts) hope is for a combo Gudas-and-Makar, and since Hronek doesn't have that physical element together with offensive talent (who does?), I think that our subconscious desire biases us against him.

I'd be perfectly happy if in Verbeek's considered judgment, Hronek would be worth acquiring.
