I actually think the OTT trade is pretty decent. You would have to give up more but its not bad. not sure about the MTL trade, could see it happening cuz both players could use a fresh start. That trade makes no sense for boston. trading a 3rd liner who can play all 3 spots, play on the PK and PP and is still young and has 2nd line Potential AND a first for a 33 yearold making 6.5? I love Kreider but not sure thats a great fit in bos for what there giving up. Trenin I actually love i think he wouuld be a great fit and getting marchessault would be great to pare with mika or trocheck. not sure if zadorov makes sense tho spending 15M on 3 D man 2 of which are big body slow D man who have struggled heavly to play top line mins.

MTL passes. But we’d be willing to give something else up for Kakko. Maybe COL 2nd and another mid round pick?

Boston is not in a win-now window, so taking a chance on 2 years of an aging Kreider and giving up a younger player and a pick doesn't make a lot of sense. They are better off keeping their picks to try and rebuild their prospect pipeline and trying to re-sign their roster players under age 30. If Boston was closer to contending, I'd at least consider it, but they just aren't there right now.

Oh, and if the Rangers pay Marchessault 6x7m, then that is going to be an absolute albatross of a contract in about 3 years.

In that trade Ottawa becomes a far easier team to play against. Declined.

Zeroooooo chance nyr would do that. Ott would be taking them to the cleaners. Laff is worth more to OTT than Brady. The question is simply, does Ottawa prefer 4 more years of a bad team with tkachuk or potentially 9+ more with laff (whos more talented) and a canadian boy?

Your read on things is so bad if you think the rangers trading kreider for trent frederic would be a bad deal for BOSTON. Itd be an awful deal for nyr

Xhekaj has looked fairly mid, is 23 played 2 years now and has had multiple upper body injures during each year and is coming off a season ending injury. 100% think you would have to add something with kakko but lets not act like xhekaj is some world beater who looks to be the next elite LD. even his advanced stats didnt really improve at all into his second year, something that isnt good for any prospect let alone u want to grow into a first line D.

No that isnt bad value wise. laf is very streaky player and while he did have a solid year this year ur not gonna be able to high sell on that 1 year. not to mention hes due for an extension were he will look for 5m+. miller is in the same boat. very solid 2nd LD but is due for an extension and hasnt made that jump to be an elite #1 LD. hes going to easily look for 6.5+ and with 1 year left knowing thats coming its just not a great deal. chytil if not for his injuries would be a great piece, solid 2/3rd winger whos got some term and isnt really overpriced but hes always injured and betting he wont get injured isnt a great bet. Tkatchuk is a star powerforward with term on only 8m peer. hes also still young at only 24 and is miles better then any player NY would send back. while i dont think it makes sense for NY to do that deal value wise they would probably have to sweeten the deal. Sens fans naturally over rate him and view him as gods great gift but its not a bad value.
it would be a terrible deal for bos. look at how the team is built. there not in a win now mode so adding a 33 yearold rather then a homegrown mid 20s player that has shown significant growth the last 2 years and is looking to crack the 2nd line this year and giving up a first when they already have a piss poor prospect pool AND adding over 6m in cap is one of the only ways the bruins can completely **** themselves. I dont think kreider for frederic in a vacuume is bad for any team and it sure isnt great for NY but for where bos is it makes 0 sense. if NY really wanted to trade him they could probably get a better deal from another team anyway.

Xhekaj isn't supposed to be an elite top pair defenseman, he has a role and since coming back from laval he has played that role almost perfectly, also Xhekaj might be 23 but he turned pro only 2 years ago after missing a ton of hockey during covid, Xhekaj has less than a 100 NHL games and less than a 120 PRO hockey games under his belt, age is just a number , it's all about experience based projection not age per say, kakko is an NHL player/young vet at this point due to playing 300 NHL games and 44 playoff games, Xhekaj is still a prospect who haven't even played 100 NHL games and that's why he's also waivers exempt, so I'm going to ask you again, BOTH PLAYER'S NEED A FRESH START ?!?!?!
