I’m not crazy about him but you’d care that much he was 3rd like RW and on the second powerplay? The real purpose of that deal is getting Troubas contract off the books Vatrano is the cherry on top

Pass on Vatrano deal. NYR are not paying a 3rd and retaining on Goodrow in a trade. Either keep him or sell him for a pick without retention.

I’m not sure trading him is possible without attaching a pick. So go ahead get rid of the $600k retention. Bottom line is they need to sell high on a 4th liner who makes $3+ million and got caved in a majority of the time he was on the ice this postseason despite being on a sh% heater.

He shot at 13.6% this season but let's not act like that's an astronomical increase from what's normal for the guy. In his five Florida seasons he shot 11% and the two Anaheim years together are 11.7%. If you want to regress his percentage to 11% he still scores 30 goals for the Ducks this past season.

If you want to knock on Vatrano in a legit way the question is how much TOI and PP usage he gets on a much deeper team. If NY uses Vatrano in the same way that Anaheim does there's no reason to think he's not good for 25 goals and at 3.6M AAV that's pretty damn good. But it's kind of doubtful NY gives him the same ice time and role.
