It’s easy to have opinions based on cherry picking the poor performances of a player. If Trouba being the captain of this team can lead his team to a president trophy and into the ECF, he’s not the liability you think he is. He literally broke his ankle before the playoffs started which effected his play.

Comes to cap space. NYR have to prioritize $ over value of return but the less money they save, the more they’ll want asset wise. It’s how the NHL works we’ve seen these moves for years.
