What do you need prospects for. Your team is full of dudes under 27 and signed long term… it’s also the bruins late first round pick. You kept your top 15 pick or top 10 pick forget where it is

Every team needs prospects. Norris and Chabot are always injured we will need dudes to replace them eventually. Giroux is 36 and we dont have any RWs outside of Batherson that will be a top 6 RW and it’s Ottawa so we can’t get dudes in free agency. The draft is important to small market teams, not everyone is Boston lol.

Show me a goalie trade where theyre traded for a ton of value?

Schneider who was a young fairly unproven backup for the 9th.
Kuemper who was traded for Connor timmins a solid depth D, a future first and future 3rd.
Cam Talbot while his body was collapsing got back Anthony stolarz
Petr ****ing mrarzek got a 3rd and conditional 3rd (it wasnt met but was still in the deal)
martin jones as a young pretty unproven backup (far less touted then Schneider) in LA got a 1st and a depth forward (sean kuraly)
varlamov got the 11th overal pick and a 2nd back in 2012
even an old barley wanting to play ilya brygalov's contract rights got a 3rd and a random no name prospect
Freddy Andersen got a 1st and 2nd pick without an extension from the leafs guaranteed.
goalies have always gotten solid returns if u look past the random backups. starters and top end goalies (not even elite) get really good to great returns. ullmark is a top 10 goalie who has played like a top 5 goalie the last 2 years, won a vesna and is on a cheap 5m deal. Saros will get a very similar return as ullmark (if not more due to his name) when NSH decide its time to move on. stop undervaluing what goalies are worth because an unproven vladar who had no space in bos got traded for a 3rd or wedgewood at the deadline, a career 3rd or AHL goalie was for a 3rd.

So the reason I specifically did this one for picks was to get some ammo for ehlers. Couldn’t take back a lot of cap because ehlers 6M coming in and more holes to fill. I’ve done a million of these all with different returns. Usually do one a day. This return just fit the overall idea for the team.

that makes some sense i just couldnt see them doing it for picks unless they already have another trade lined up with the picks part of it

It’s kind of interesting. Goalie values are all over the place.

There is a deal to be made between Ottawa and Boston if Ullmark can be convinced that Ottawa is worth him spending the next part of his career there.

I like your young defenseman and think your forward talent is there. I don’t see much difference in talent between your team, Buffalo, Detroit, or NJ. Young teams trying to emerge.

I’m also never quite sure Ottawa gets a bad wrap as a city. I don’t like the taxes, but ive always like the time I’ve spent in Ottawa.

If Winnipeg is trading an extended Ehlers, a top 4 RHD or 2C with term or team control needs to be part of the return.

Well that’s just not how that works. Are they not allowed to talk extension for the 10 months he is on the team?

in terms of determining their trade value, that is exactly how it works.

At the trade deadline sure. Not in the offseason when you get them for an entire season

no for that too. if you're trading for a player that has one year left on their contract with the ability to walk in UFA after one season, they are considered a rental on the trade market. that's just how they're defined. this isn't subjective.
