Carolina is extremely happy with that trade. Vancouver needs to get more if Garland goes back.

Canucks aren't giving up Garland for KK. Would need significant assets on top of KK to make that happen.

Agreed.

Homemade perogies are delicious.

An old Polish woman on my street used to make them when I was a kid and she'd always give me a few. 😁

I was thinking that too, but with KK being 5 years younger and playing the more premium position I thought it wasn’t as a dramatic of a gap as it seems. Clearly I was wrong judging by the replies lol. Garland went from no one wanting him to having quite a bit of value it seems

I think, honestly, it's because since the offseason of nobody wanting him (which is still crazy to me, he's showcased that he can be a 20ish goal scorer. Kotkaniemi's career high is 18.

I also remember when CFACGM Canucks fans wanted to give Garland away. 😬

Garland had brief stints in the top 6 but hadn’t found any real chemistry there. Much better driving play on the third line. I thought with the possible untapped potential in KK that the Canucks would solve their third line centre hole for years to come. Canucks staff like him for a reason. If Carolina needs to throw in picks to get Garland then I’m all for it haha.

I do think KK ends up in Vancouver this offseason. They want him, Carolina wants to move him. I just have no idea how to gauge the value on him. He's so young but very unproven. He had a hot start and then fell off a cliff this season and had 43 points a year ago. His contract also makes it interesting, but the cap is going up.

I do like the idea of trading for KK, but that trade is awful for VAN. Garland shouldn't be moved

I think it’s a perfect situation for KK to be traded to with Tocchet and co. I think there’s some recency bias in play with Garland but that’s just me.

I was just swinging on upside with KK. If he hits then they have the perfect third line centre locked in at a reasonable rate for the next however long. Easy buy out, snd $4+ in cap room if it doesn’t work. Garland is fantastic on the third line but hasn’t found much chemistry elsewhere
