The 800k on the back end is a rounding error by that point in the cap picture. It’s certainly not worth it requiring Mik coming back since the whole point of moving kk is to get immediate cap savings if that’s what they decide to do for other moves.

Yeah I totally get not wanting to retain on KK, but at the same time regarding KK to Vancouver it only makes sense if Mikheyev is going the other way (or if Carolina pays Vancouver the assets they’d need to dump Mikheyev elsewhere), or if there is retention on KK (in which case a buyout makes more sense for Carolina)

Yeah I don’t think the canes try to dump KK or buy him out this year. I think they do that next summer if he doesn’t improve. If there’s a very specific deal they’re looking at and need to clear space this summer that’s the only scenario that makes sense for them.
