Trading for Marner means it's a win now time for Calgary, while trading away Andersson means it's a retool/rebuild. Marner to CGY just doesn't make sense

I agree with above. Trading Marner to Calgary makes no sense for Calgary. But even if it did, this proposal is hilariously one sided. Take away everything except Marner from TO's side or they don't even pick up the phone. lol MAYBE they would toss you Liljegren as well.
But there is 0 chance you get more than that. Minten and Cowan are going nowhere.
And certainly not to overpay for an aging goalie and an average D man.

The Flames acquiring some combination of Liljegren, Minten, and Cowen for Markstrom likely makes sense for both parties. The Flames trading Andersson for Marner doesn't.

Marner is unlikely to waive to go to Calgary, and even if he does he is unlikely to sign long term to stay in Calgary. Andersson may stay in Calgary, is more likely to still be an important piece on the Flames timeline, and even if he decides to leave can give the Flames 12 to 18 months of play before being traded.

What Leafs fans don't see is what an albatross Marner's contract is and not just for one year. He will demand an $11m plus contract to resign or he will walk. No GM will give him that contract and no GM will pay assets to see him walk out the door. Leafs are hooped as MM is coming back.

We will see. Remember you said that. Because TO is not resigning him. So when another team gives him a huge contract next year. Come back and admit you were wrong Ok?

I will come back and admit I am wrong when Marner with an $11m plus salary is the man leading his team to a Stanley Cup.
