Terrible trade for the Canucks. Leafs would be lucky to get that much for Marner

Mik is a negative asset, and a big one at 4.75. silovs Syed like a 1A this playoffs and hronek won't sign in van for less than 8. Goalies historically don't get much (see Schneider). It adds up to being fair imo.

Moving a top 5 goalie to start a goalie with 9 career regular season games is a terrible idea for a contending team

Hronek’s starting ask is 8M. If you know anything about negotiating you start by asking high, which is what Hronek is doing. He’ll get somewhere in the 7M range on his deal

Not to mention taking Marner’s contract makes it way more difficult to upgrade the roster elsewhere (which should be very obvious to you when you have Tolopilo as the backup goalie and Juulsen as a regular)

Also Z takes 250k less backup goalie changes and juulson played well on his time on the ice. I have no problem giving him bottom pairing minutes
