Interesting. I don’t see that trade as slanted either way. Trouba is probably worth 2 3rds with retention and Veleno and Kakko are similar value to me if not having Veleno slightly higher.

It's not as slanted as he's putting it out to be, but New York (or anyone for that matter) isn't going to trade their captain when the team is a Cup Contender.

Agreed, if NYR needs to clear cap there are more obvious and more logical guys to move than Trouba.

Kakko is still likely on the table, but the only other roster player I can see him selling in the summer is Ryan Lindgren.

In fairness, I generally plug a guy in next to Larkin and Raymond that isn’t much to write home about. They just need someone skilled enough to play with them. If you think he’s worth more than that, you are likely keeping him. That’s his value.

Teams would give up a 2nd for Kappy just for the chance of maximizing his talent.

Feels rich to me. I do agree that the Rangers best course is to wait it out. No sense selling a talented player at their lowest value. But strictly based on his on ice performance, I’d have no interest at a 2nd.

What fans value him at and what drury values him at are vastly different. So yes, NYR are 💯 keeping him. Like not a chance he’s being moved. The only candidates to be not with NYR next year is kreider, Trouba, Lindgren, Goodrow.. likely one or more with be moved this summer
