Poitras is the asterisk here. he could start on the roster out of camp but if he doesn't show quite as well could end up starting in providence similar to Lorhei last year or if it's a numbers game he goes down without needing waivers.

the difference is the bruins didn't burn a year off Lohrei's ELC by not sending him back to junior. boston already made their decision regarding Poitras

Not at that price we won't. I'd prefer that we didn't overpay Debrusk

To be fair, the AHL and OHL are different paths for development. I don’t believe that Poitras is going to Providence, but it is a different development structure

I believe people are going to be surprised about what he and other free agents get on the open market with available money and known TV revenue spikes.

it certainly is! and if that was the plan, he would have been sent to junior so as to not burn off multiple years of his ELC in anticipation of sending him to providence.

I agree with you on this. My expectation is Poitras comes back better than last year. I will say teams adjusted to some of his go to moves, he became less effective. That’s part of the development cycle and he needs to learn to adjust up in Boston

and I think his body definitely started to wear down a bit. Its clear that it wasn't just one hit that caused that injury. I think a long off-season will be very helpful for him.

I think anything above 6 would start to be an overpay but with the cap projected to be 92 next offseason, under 6 will look really good a few years in. Keep in mind Debrusk is at least 2-3 years younger than all the other free agent forwards. Unfortunately it seems like he is gone.

I think you’ll be fortunate if he agrees to the Tippett contract.

Also, Lohrei, Poitras, and Lysell probably represent the biggest swing potential among the young players.

I watched Providence play on the AHL level a lot. Lysell’s improvement in year 2 was noticeable after the Mouganel comments. Hes more speed guy creating passing lanes and finding players for good ops than sniper despite a good shot. Curious to see when he’s given an opportunity. He still has a habit of trying things that players his size shouldn’t try, but it’s a lot less now and I thought he got to a level from a team play standpoint that I questioned before this year
