Necas can't play center.

I remember the Bruins trading away a young speedy right winger who couldn’t play center who became a very good two way center in Dallas. You are probably right that he ends up at wing. But you would have to try it out. Thankfully, with the positional flexibility of Frederic, Zacha and Geekie and Poitras and Merkulov as potential options…it’s OK if the risk doesn’t work out.

Seguin is an interesting case here, and it shows why the bruins should want no part of necas. necas is the kind of players the bruins get rid of, not bring in. and looking back, they were absolutely right about seguin. it took him a LONG time to become a two way player, if you're going to call him that now. The vast majority of his time in dallas, he was a one dimensional forward that really wasn't going to help you win, but he'd put up decent points. The six years in dallas where he was a top six player, they won one playoff round. Now that he's 9th on the team in points, all of a sudden they're good again. coincidence? I don't think so.

As for your center flexibility, its really clear that the bruins don't want zacha or frederic playing center, but I can guarantee you they wouldn't consider playing Necas there.

Players that are 25 years of age....if they haven't established themselves as NHL centres by now, they just aren't "good enough" to be NHL centres.

Carlo's value is much higher than Necas' - top 4 RHD in his prime locked up with term on a bargain contract.

Don't hate the Necas idea overall but why not trade Lysell and the Ullmark picks instead, keep Carlo who is better than Carrier for the same money. Then just play Necas as 2nd line RW and bring Poitras up to play center. Probably helps Poitras development a lot to be with two really strong play drivers in Marchy and Necas.

Oh sure that would be better, but does Carolina really need a goalie that badly? Their fans are talking about Necas+ for a STAR. We are talking about Ullmark. If it’s going to happen with Boston, I don’t think it’s either of those deals.

I mean Carlo is also not a star. I meant use whatever assets Ullmark brings back not actually Ullmark. Think NJD 25 1st or something in that range of value and Lysell might do it and if not would not take much more. Who realistically is trading Necas for a star especially with the Canes being right up against the cap, having a lot of UFA, and not a ton of bargaining room?
