The way I see it, Barron still has potential, and could probably benefit from a change of scenery. He could put up pretty good numbers on the NYR PP2 unit. And he's a RD, which a lot of teams seem to be after. But his future is blocked by Reinbacher and Mailloux here. RHP is a decent fill-in as a 3rd or 4th liner. Limited upside, but not for lack of effort, and he did score well a couple years ago when Caufield was out. The pick's in the late 50s. You can pick up a fairly effective player there if you draft well.
Kakko definitely needs to move if he's going to see any further development. He's an effective defensive player, so he'll be useful on L3 even if this is the limit of his offense, but he wasn't and won't get much time in the top 6 in NY. In Montreal, that's still possible. He'd actually face less pressure here, as we're not the team that drafted him at 2 and we don't expect him to be a first liner. And especially so if we're not dealing a 1st to get him. He can fly under the radar a little and that's probably best for him.
