Sens are not trading the 7th overall pick to dump Korpisalo when it only costs $1.3 million a year to buy him out.

That's not what's happening here. The BOS 1st would be the cap dump + Blackwood. The 7th overall would be for the 14th overall + Bords, Benning, & a 3rd.

I'm not crazy about this from a SJ perspective, but you're just ignoring the entire other massive portion of the trade

We need that high end prospect at #7 more than we need to dump Korpi.

thats not totally insane for dropping 7 spots tbf, but the sens need to get one of those high end d-men that will be at the #7 range more than the rest

What if his dump is for the Boston 1st and they receive Blackwood + Sens also receive #14, Bordeleau, mid round picks, Benning and add forsberg for #7?

Bordeleau is the only interesting part of that but I still wouldn't do it.

Only way that makes sense is if Bordeleau is an extremely good prospect, is he?

Yeah, I 100% think Sens are the wrong team. Utah, NJ, Seattle, Maybe Buffalo would be better targets to move up with.

The quality of player between 5-16 is pretty close, but Sharks and Sens both desperately need #1 D, and they may be gone by 10-12

Very solid. I'd say his value is equivalent to an early 2nd. Projects to be at worst a 3rd line scoring forward, and at best a solid 45-60 pt 2nd liner LW/C. Another appeal for some teams is that he's NHL ready

Korpisalo is likely in Ottawa come season opener. They lack picks and prospects thanks to Dorion, so they can’t afford to give up another 1st (either one). Forsberg is likely gone but it shouldn’t take a 1st to move his deal.

They're both 3rd paring / 7th d-men. Only Rutta will be gone next year. We'd be stuck with Whitecloud for another 4 years.

Again Granlund has NO business being dealt here (or ever prior to the deadline)

I mean on SJs blueline, but again he's comparable to Rutta. And Granlund is fantastic

I hear you on Granny but disagree on Whitecloud. Regardless who do you think is most likely trade partner to move up this year?

New Jersey. I've thought it for awhile and a recent paywalled SJHN article where Sheng spoke to writers from the teams in front of us agreed. Most of the teams were a no with regards to trading back, many of them because their needs matched the Sharks' needs.
