Description

Yes, I know. Neither Jenner or Karlsson is realistically available. But, in this proposal, Columbus gets the better player while Vegas gets some cap space to sign some more depth. I think it makes sense when you take out the sentimental appeal of Jenner and Karlsson to both teams.

I added Hague and Texier to the trade because Vegas probably needs to move either him or McNabb. McNabb has an M-NTC. Texier is a great bottom 6 guy with some potential. Columbus will need an LD when Provorov goes. Hague gives them size and a stronger PK and comes from a winning team.

I fully expect everyone to decline. That's OK. :)

Look, Jenner is the heart and soul of Columbus. Ownership will probably never approve of trading him and he doesn't want to leave. There is something to be said for some sort of continuity and love for the team in the locker room. All in all, they have very little incentive save a chance at winning the Cup. Does this trade provide that? Probably not.

Having said that, I personally love Karlsson's game, so in the highly unlikely event that this were to happen, I'd support it. I suspect that I would probably be in a minority among Columbus fans, though.

Hague for Texier I like.

I'd be in favor of bringing Wild Bill back here, but not at the cost of Jenner. The resulting leadership gap is just too large.

I'm genuinely curious: would the net difference in leadership be that substantial? Karlsson seems to have some leadership qualities, he wears the A in Vegas. Is it any particular characteristic of Jenner's leadership that makes the difference?

Maybe swap Kuraly for Jenner and the Jackets add a 2nd round pick or a prospect? Kuraly brings some of the same elements as Boone, but not at his level. Roy would be your 3C and Kuraly would be the 4C.

Frankly, I think that Vegas would have better offers on the table if Karlsson was made available. Vegas is looking to compete now, so I don't know how much picks and prospects would sway them.
