That doesn't work for Calgary.

Calgary would want a first and likely won't be willing to take back a goalie for Markstrom. The purpose of the trade is to free a space for Wolf I doubt they make a trade where they then immediately have to turn around and make another.

I'm not afraid of Korpisalo's salary... he's only owed 16M and he can hold Dustin Wolf's hand as Wolf translates his game to NHL. By the time the transition is complete, he'll only be owed 8, will still be back up quality, and can be traded with retained salary to go be someone else's insurance at 2*2.

You also get a guy who has shown he can 1D pretty competently in Arizona under better coaching.

If I'm Ottawa, I'm looking to trade Chabot and Norris, get some more defensively responsible players on that team, and see if they can't turn Chychrun into the player they thought they were trading for, extending him mid-season.

That's personally what I want to do. I want to keep Chych and move on from Chabot + Norris. This season we have seen plenty times Chych was pissed off we were losing, we need to keep dudes around who aren't cool with losing.
