I don't think it is realistic to expect Tanev, Lindholm, or Toffoli to sign with CHI. Aside from Toffoli in his rookie season, none of them have won a Stanley cup and they are all still chasing that. Although, CHI could always give them M-NTC's and move them at a trade deadline.

Your point is completely valid. I can’t pretend to understand players’ motivation. My impression based on recent events with players like Foligno, Dickinson, and Mrazek (especially Foligno) is that cup chasing can be secondary to making good money and having a little stability.

In the case of Lindholm my pitch would be “come here and get the money you hoped to get before you had a statistical down turn, get great opportunity here with Bedard and in 1.5 years if you’re not satisfied we’ll send you somewhere you might like. In the meantime you will have every opportunity to show the league you’re still an 8 million dollar plus player.” Hope he sees it as the right move for his career.

Taney is a little different. “How much to come here and be happy the rest of your career? We think we can make some noise by the end of your contract, if not you will be an invaluable piece for the org. and we won’t forget that when you retire.”

If Toffoli doesn’t want to come that’s fine. Put out feelers on other depth wingers: Tarasenko, Marshy (VGK)

For sure. It could be appealing to some players. I guess we'll just have to wait and see. As for Lindholm, I wouldn't want to give him big money, anyway. He doesn't fit the timeline and an AAV like that could put us in a very tough spot in a few years. I also think he will be looking for term, which I definitely wouldn't want to give him. I don't exactly hate it, but it's an unnecessary risk. Not really a fan of the term on Nedljkovic either. Term on Tanev is fine, but $8M is way overboard.
