I've seen the Hronek-for-Chychrun idea batted around on here a couple times. In the end it doesn't make a ton of sense for VAN as Chychrun is apparently not good on the right side of the ice, which is where the Canucks' bigger need is.

Our best pair (only played 140 minutes together) was Sanderson - Chychrun.

Interesting... a few on here seemed to think he wasn't as good on the right side as on the left.

He is far better on the left side yes, but if you give him a good partner he can do it fine. They tried it with Chabot - Chych and he didn't look great but that's because him and Chabot are just to similar, he needs a nice defensive partner.

For the most part, Chychrun can adapt to either side depending on who he's partnered with. He is a Left D, but also plays his fair share on Right D.

As said by StutzlesNumber1Fan, Sandy-Chychrun pairing was as elite as we got, Chabby-Chychrun struggled to find their rhythm but still did OK, but they mostly had Chabby on Chychruns right side when they were paired.

Either way, whatever team lands Chychrun is going to benefit.

to me his biggest problems were he could not transition the puck at all off the right side and general defensive effort. That was never an issue when he was paired with sanderson. If you can get him on the left, or honestly pair him with quinn hughes he could be okay. You’d just have to be willing to live with some of the issues. He’s still got great ability in the O zone and has a cannon shot
