Not a fan of giving up that 1st. too much for Necas

Probably a reasonable offer for Necas. Moving 5 quality pieces for 1 is rarely done in the NHL. My guess is Yzerman wouldn't accept the offer but I would.

A 1st, 2nd, bottom pair prospect, and bottom 6 prospect and Fabbri for Necas. Why would the Canes take a quantitative futures package over asking for quality?

From what I've heard, Necas is on the outs. So I have a hard time seeing them getting a better package than a first, a second, 2 really solid prospects (Soderblom being a completely unique one of a kind prospect) and a 20 goal scorer for cheap when teams know they don't plan on re-signing him.

Debatably a slight overpay for his contract status but detroit is in desperate need of a young highly skilled winger like Necas

I know it's rarely done but the Wings are one of very few teams right now with the ability to actually make that type of move

Then we can draft one with the 15th overall this year.

There's no guarantee you get one with 15, hell it's relatively more unlikely than likely. Necas is a sure thing with upside.
