Description
Ultimately I'd love to bring back DeBrusk however, I think he may have played himself into a richer deal than I am comfortable with. If he is $5.5M or under, I'm working a way to bring him back. But in this scenario, I think it gives Freddy a chance to play top 6 minutes and we can see if he can bloom into a solid middle sixer or just a third liner before he is due another contract. This also opens up space for Merkulov to play. I think it's now or never for him. Led the P-Bruins in points last 2 seasons and would be an older rookie. Lets see it. The Bruins get their top 2 centers of the next era and this forward group has a lot of versatility. Players can shift as needed and the top 3 lines have multiple players that can win you a faceoff. Bring in any veteran goaltender that's coming in <$1M and let them compete with Bussi/DiPietro for the backup role in camp. Lets dream big

Some will say not enough for Draisaitl, others will say its too much, all depends on if its 1 year or an extension is signed, but the Carlo for Ceci swap is definitely a no

those with brains will say its way too much. this isn't a dream, it's a nightmare that bucks every trend the NHL has seen in the last 20 years.

Respectfully, you might be too attached to your own guys. You have to give up value to get a Hart caliber 1C. It’s not happening without including a roster player and that roster player isn’t Frederic or Zacha like some people probably wish.

Elias Lindholm this year, 4 months ago, went for a roster player, 2 prospects, and 2 picks. He doesn’t have half the resume of a Draisaitl. Is the issue you have that I didn’t include the extension for Drai? I would assume an extension gets done if he really wants out of EDM.

okay, lets dig into that one. a lot there. you really want to compare those two trades? yikes pal.
Lindholm got:
a pure multi-year cap dump
two okay prospects (vancouver protected their top guys pretty efficiently)
round 1 pick
conditional round 4 pick.

You've got Draisaitl getting:
Carlo - more value than the entire package going to calgary, one of the best defensive d men in the league on an incredible contract
the bruins top prospect - argue about his value as you wish. i'm not here for that
a guy that played center in the NHL as a teenager - those guys don't move
the reigning vezina winner
1st round pick
2nd round pick

you can't be serious trying to compare those two.

contract wise, if he comes with an extension, we have a good chunk of evidence that it doesn't impact the trade value all that much. This is bad.

You’re being disingenuous calling Kuzmenko a pure cap dump. You want to cite Ullmark’s 22-23 accomplishments but disregard Kuzmenko’s? The Flames took him in the deal because of his upside and potential. Not to make money work. Brzustewicz is a higher ranked prospect than Lysell as of Jan ‘24. I’d agree Poitras has more value than Jurmo and a 2nd is worth more than a 4th but again, Draisaitl is worth more than Lindholm. You understand that buddy? Or you just gonna continue to move the goalposts? Keep making snide remarks. Neither of us are or will be GMs, let’s have fun here. You can build your fantasy land roster however you like, and I’ll make mine.

this is revisionist history. kuzmenko was a cap dump. it was widely reported and acknowledged at the time.
