i know hes been dog water lately but typically that has pointed to injury problems in the past. there's no rush to move him and certainly not when there's a perceived lower value.

Pettersson isn’t being moved. Hypothetically if he was then it would be Thompson++ or Dahlin coming back as the main piece from Buffalo

Canucks fans wouldn't move him for McDavid to be fair. as for the package I posted, yeah it's a lot, but we have high end prospects even after this trade. It's a big swing to make the team a contender now and not in like 2027. Not sure I'd do it either but it's an idea

Canucks are a contending team. We aren’t going to move a borderline top 5 center in the league for a 2nd line center coming off of a down season and futures. It doesn’t make sense for us

that's a fair take actually, and ik Patterson is great, but if you guys were not contending, you could not possibly expect more than this

if he has a down year next year, and you guys look to move on from him, I doubt you get this good of an offer

No it wouldn’t. Be real.

1. You acquire Pettersson to play with guys like Thompson and Dahlin to help build the team competitively, not trade them for him.

2. Dahlin has no place in Vancouver. Hughes is already the #1 d-man and the PP guy so Dahlin would play behind him. That’s a step down for him and not where he’s best to succeed.

3. Pettersson is more in the Owen Power value range than Dahlin.

There might be a scenario where Thompson and some other stuff gets moved for Pettersson, but largely agree with what u said

It’s more likely that Thompson and Pettersson would be the 1-2 punch at centre. It doesn’t make sense to try to strengthen the position of centre by moving out one of your centres

My best guess would be Power + Quinn + picks + B prospect for Pettersson.

Gives Vancouver a good defender to play behind Hughes and a guy they can still develop into a top 6 centre.

this is a response that isolates his performance in the moment, not the collective whole. peak pettersson, which we have had most of his tenure, is why we won't make a panic move. I'm not sure what is going on right now but we can't look at a few subsets of bad performance on their own. He's bounced back from this type of stuff before.

1) The Canucks aren’t rebuilding so they aren’t trading Pettersson for futures. It would be for pieces to stay competitive like Thompson or Dahlin

2) Dahlin can play the right side or he could be the best 2nd pair dman in the league. Obviously it’s not the most ideal situation for him as he’s suited to be the #1 guy on a team but it could still work

3) Pettersson is far closer in value to Dahlin than he is Power. That’s not debatable. He’s a borderline top 5 center in the league. 90-100 point centers who are very good defensively don’t grow on trees. He’s worth just as much if not more than Dahlin, and quite a bit more than Power

Pettersson’s contract and playoff performance diminish his value. You wouldn’t get close to a #1 defenceman for him. You’d be looking at multiple other pieces, not a franchise player.

Pettersson’s contract was widely regarded as a great deal for the Canucks when it was signed. A bad stretch where he’s playing injured and with below average linemates doesn’t change that. He was also great in the playoffs in the bubble

He’s not getting moved, but if he was the Canucks wouldn’t take a package involving futures. It would be for a similar level player like Dahlin or a piece like Thompson++

I know Peterson is an incredible hockey player and an obvious great center but like man, this is still a serious offer. Patterson however is a little streaky and it is worth noting that. He has his ups and downs and seems to have some serious downs where other players of his caliber don't quite have the spikes he has

I won't deny that its a decent offer, but realistically its not something in the realm of possibility. Nobody gives a centerpiece player a long term extension then immediately moves them. Simply put, this whole discussion is trumped by the fact that he is one of the furthest players away from the market on our team.
