      TLDR;

The Leafs want to trade Marner or Tavares.
Marner gets a value, Tavares costs so they trade Marner.

      Marners trade comparable is Meier.

Marner is arguably a better player. Recently he’s caught a lot of flack for his playoffs.

This doesn’t change the fact that a Meier trade is the simple template as Mitch would be extended by his new team as well.

Utah decides to get Marner and give him the C. Igniting the new franchise.

Toronto is able to extract EVEN more value out of Marner by trading down with Utah’s 6TH OA pick.

THE VALUES ARE PURELY OBJECTIVE AND FOR FUN BASED ON THE MEIER TRADE

The Leafs targets are fall candidates

Like Eiserman, or a stretch fall (unlikely) Iginla.
Other key targets are the multiple D with fall candidates like Jiricek or Dickinson.
They could even go after Nygard or Greentree.

          Late pick would be BPA.

Thank you, I now understand a bit better...

It is a good idea... But I also see the Leafs potentially keeping the 6th overall pick to use on a quality defensemen... As Celebrini, Dmidov go 1-2... That means, worst case, Toronto gets the 4rth best prospect in the draft

          Agreed. Parekh and Buium.
Shark’s would definitely overpay for 6th OA I think to make it more realistic

Like instead of Coe and a 3rd maybe another 2nd and another prospect

Maybe... But the Leafs are missing that quality defensemen to help out with minutes for Rielly...

I hope the Leafs do this kind of move where they acquire a high draft pick and potentially have the choice between Dickinson, Parekh or Levshunov
