Marner is not in the right category.

He'll not waive and he can go cry to the NHLPA if the Leafs management try to pressure him. Players who waive there NMC are usually on crappy teams or cities, that's not the case with Toronto and Marner enjoys living/playing in the city.

Toronto knows they aren't going to win with the core 4... They'll force Marner to give teams and get him to waive...

You can't force a player to do anything against his contract.

But you can sit him in the press box until he waives

ACGM said many crazy things about M. Murray too last summer, most of them would have made the Leafs look like a clown organization.

You can't easily trade a $11 million player with a NMC. Even if he gives a list of 3 teams (he isn''t even required to list 1 team let alone ACGMs stating he should give a 10 team list) he can simply pick all teams he knows either can't afford him or already have their top 6 forward core estabished.

Like most NHL teams don't do anything like that (LTIR shenanigans)

And one of them came true... M. Murray was placed on LTIR the entire year...

And sitting Marner until he gives his list of teams is fully in line with he rule book, like scratching TJ Brodie this past year... Just bc he makes a ton of money, that doesn't override his fit in the organization...
