Description

With plently of cap space opening up next season, this trade makes sense from a cap perspective. I don't think NJD will be successful in the immediate future, especially given how competitive the Metro is right now, so trading a current star for future assets would be wise. Between a league leader in shot blocking, a 20 year old NHL LW and two high picks, I'd think the above would be better for NDJ in the long run than Hall.

with Tavares's new contract the Isles aren't flush with cap room. next year, but they do have room. sure would look better if that 9m taken by Ladd and Clutterbuck weren't there. the trade though might be good for both teams.

My only concern is replacing De Haan. While he isn't a point scorer, his defense would be missed.

I agree that de Haan will be missed, but Pelech's new contract leads me to believe its time to let the next wave of defenseman shine. That, and I think we'll have to find some way to shed a defenseman before the season begins. 8 defensemen in the NHL is just stupid, especially when we arguably have even more NHL ready skaters in Bridgeport.
