The Keller Marner Trade

Description
The only way this works is if Marner agrees to an extension prior to the trade. Any team that would give up the necessary assets to acquire Marner would only do it if they were 100% confident in extending him. People are going to hate this take, but the closest comparable to a Marner trade would be the Tkachuk trade. At the time, Tkachuk was a worse player than Marner is now, and he also wasn't the "proven playoff performer" he is regarded as now.

IMO this is the only semi-realistic trade that would make sense for the Leafs (even if Marner were to waive).

Why is Utah adding, Keller on that contract is worth more than 1 year and or massive contract of marner. Why would Utah gm touch that negotiation with a 10 foot pole. Time to add to Keller and the rest that are sticking around. Some kids, and shopping to add with cap and trade the picks accumulated for players.
