Elias Lindholm had a point per game season centering Calgary's top line, so did Monahan, which were followed by two "down years" relative to the point per game season, just like Monahan, and then Monahan was traded to Montreal, Lindholm is a UFA this summer. Depending on the market for him, which looked like it was gonna be crazy, but his underwhelming stint in Vancouver thus far might've scared off teams, and I think bringing him to Montreal for 2-3 years to be our 2C/2RW depending where Dach plays, he could be a good fit. Montreal have the cap space to overpay him, and I'd be fine with doing it as long it's not a long-term deal. He could bounce-back in Montreal while helping mentor the younger players, and could be a great fit on our 2nd line, as a former selke runner-up, who has been a really good scorer in the past, maybe Vancouver just wasn't the right fit for him.
I've signed him to 2x8.5, but the cap hit doesn't really matter, as long as the term isn't more than 2/3 years, then we have the money to pay him whatever basically without getting trapped in a contract that could make keeping the young core together hard/impossible.
Anywhere really, just thought putting the Barron brothers on the same team would be interesting and they could make room for him with 4/8 defensemen on roster being free agents, 3/8 being UFA's
Winnipeg might be interested, but it won't be for that 2nd though.
fair, it's hard to get a real idea of what guys like Barron and Harris are worth, some people will say a 1st, others say a 4th, reality it's somewhere in between, I guessed Barron would be enough to move up 2 rounds but it depends on who's available more than anything
I like the idea of bringing in a vet for 2 years to fill out the top 6 while prospects develop.
I think Duchene can also be a good candidate. Plays both C &RW and HABS were the runners up before he signed in Nashville.

Proven bottom pairing defensemen are plentiful and easy to find. None of them cost a high 2nd (except at the TDL), so a struggling, unproven, bottom pairing defenseman that are a dime a dozen, won't return a high 2nd from anyone. His value would be a 3rd or lower, he hasn't increased his value in Montreal.

he's young enough his value would be more than say Ian Cole because there's still untapped potential, but yeah a 2nd might be too much
