Woodcroft?

Maybe…if it’s another feather in their cap, I am wary. If they want to be the Jon Cooper for NJ…and build something over next decade…sign me up.

I highly doubt Cooper leaves Tampa unless we give them compensation.

Was using him as an example...to be our own version of Jon Cooper.

Cooper took over Tampa Bay when they were a very young group. Stamkos, Hedman, Palat, Johnson, Killorn were all 23-and-under. They had gone to conference finals in 2011 and missed playoffs in 2012. Cooper became coach in 2013. He was brought up through their AHL team and had no NHL experience. They have been good since.

I am wary about hiring an "experienced" candidate...I want a 2013 Cooper for NJD.

Pagnotta is saying that Berube and Keefe are top of our list.

“There is some chatter that wherever Craig Berube goes (again, I believe he’s the top candidate for the Maple Leafs), that he has at least one assistant coach set to accompany him. Full disclosure, I can’t reveal who that is right now, but he’s a former NHL head coach. So, which ever team brings in Berube will likely have added plenty of experience behind the bench beyond the bench boss position.

Speaking of coaches, the New Jersey Devils were linked to Sheldon Keefe before the playoffs started. Now that he’s officially available, they are supposed to speak with him this weekend. He’s believed to be at the top of their list, alongside Berube.

In Los Angeles, the Kings still need to decide what they want to do. Jim Hiller is being fully considered for the full-time gig and a decision on his future could be made in the coming days.”

No mention of Sullivan.

You think the Devils are waiting on Montgomery maybe getting fired from Boston?

Scott Wheeler, from the Athletic, in his ‘mailbag’ article this morning talking about who he expects to get drafted in the top-10:

“As I talked to people from around the league and began to put together my first mock, one trend has emerged based on the draft order and the number of teams that will zero in on the D: There are going to be at least a couple of the high-end forwards available outside. Macklin Celebrini, Demidov and as many as five defensemen are expected to go in the first eight picks. If his health checks out, I’d expect the other player in that group of eight to be Lindstrom. That could mean that all five of Iginla, Eiserman, Helenius, Berkly Catton and Sennecke, the consensus second tier of forwards, could be available from No. 9 onward, and two (or maybe even three) are likely to be taken outside the top 10. If there’s one player who could shake things up by getting picked in the top 10, it’s probably Sennecke”

So guys expected to be gone by 10th pick

-- F: Celebrini, Demidov, Lindstrom, Sennecke
-- D: Levshunov, Dickinson, Buium, Silayev, Parekh

That would leave available at #10

-- F: Catton, Iginla, Helenius, Eiserman, Greentree, MBN
-- D: Emery, Yakemchuk, Jiricek

I think we would have to take Catton there, no? Or trade down to 13-14 range.

Hischier took a skate to the face, had to get stitched up.
He couldn't return in his uniform because there was too much blood on it.
But still returned wearing nameless #49 to finish the game.
An exhibition game.

"Soft" lol.

If I had to guess probabilities of next NJD coach...doesn't sound like anyone is over 50% (or even at 1-in-3 chance)

Sheldon Keefe......30%
Todd McClellan....20%
Mike Sullivan........15%
Jay Woodcroft......10%
Craig Berube........10%
Rest of Field.........15%

What do you all think?

...and the follow-up is...what is the delay?

Waiting on Pittsburgh to punt Sullivan (or trade Sullivan)?
Waiting on Rod Brind'Amour to get bounced?
Waiting on one of the coaches to decide?
Waiting on another club to throw $7m+ at our preferred candidate?
Waiting on another coach to exit playoffs?

I’d rather tell Kevin Bahl to start boxing 3 hours a day in the offseason than bring in Xhekaj.

Tavares...HELL NO unless Toronto retains and gives us a goalie.
Ehlers...Too expensive
Samuelsson: YES. Seigs is not a 1a

If there is any center we should trade for, it's Bennett. 3rd line center. Can play 2 if needed. Is a force on the ice.

Regarding goalie, would Ingram or Desmith be a fit?

Luke Hughes is the 1A lmao.

Siegs is already D5 behind Marino Hamilton Nemec and Luke.

One year of Bennett is not enough for a top-10 pick.

Andy Strickland says Craig Berube interviewed, was liked by Devils ownership, but the concern was that the Devils players were too “sensitive” for his coaching style.

(Strickland is a Blues beat reporter with direct ties to Berube).

My guess is Berube didn’t get the job he wanted, so bad-mouthed NJD to a friendly reporter. Good riddance, Craig.

Good luck with Papi, Marner, and Willy

None of this is true though….this is BS coming from a coach candidate who didn’t get the job, so he is bad-mouthing the team that didn’t hire him.

We have no divas here since PK left

Weekes: sends eyeball emoji tweet with photo of The Rock

LeBrun: “ The Devils continue to work through their coaching search process. Among the candidates interviewed so far: Todd McLellan, Craig Berube and Jay Woodcroft. Plus as mentioned before the Devils have interest in speaking with Sheldon Keefe.”.

(I thought we had interviewed Keefe already?)

I have no idea what is going on…
