1 good season when everyone's injured so you become Suzuki's Trigger man doesnt mean he'll ever do it again let alone improve on it.
Pezz on the other hand you feel his lines presence when he's on the line regardless of who he's playing with.
Hutson takes a back seat to no one
He'd only have signed and passed up the the chance for him , Cole and Quinn to all play together next year in BOS if he was assured he'd be playing top 4 minutes and on his side. He's a LD in a system log jammed in the NHL and AHL with LD so you better believe it was a priority when he signed early despite being on a Stacked team with tons of Brother combinations. Two Frozen Four Finals and you gotta think a 3rd year going back with a LD stacked with Hutson Brothers and a RD stacked with McCarthy Brothers with Gallagher-Willander between them thats a beyond stacked D core with every pair bringing offensive ,defensive ,physicality and skill with a balance of speed and Size. He couldnt have asked for a better situation and he left it to play in MTL
Hughes has built a Reputation on his Word
I doubt he lets MSL sacrifice that without firing him outright
We fired Ducharme for less after extending him after a SCF run
If MSL tried to put baby in a corner he'd be bounced so fast his head would spin
Hutson will likely play beside Guhle or Xhekaj as he almost always took advantage of physical shot blockers grinding players down so Hutson could get a step on them and break away. I suppose Kovacevic would be the best option short term but long term until Reinbachers ready its either Guhle or Xhekaj IMO
Really though you're overlooking Mailloux , Reinbacher and Engstrom will like Struble be pushing for Roster Spots.
MSL nor Hughes just sent Struble down either despite the ability to do so. MSL kept a Crowded Dcore IMO to force Veterans out by keeping the influx of youth on our Dcore as needing addressed. Reinbacher is a Defensive Anchor in Laval , not sure we can actually hold him down after 2 years Pro Experience between here and Laval coupled with being Physically ready.Mailloux wont let MTL overlook him, he's got a chip on his shoulder and a desire to overachieve to prove he belongs here.
