Matt Cooke?! The dude hasn't been in the league for years for a reason. He's old and has no skill. Michalek would cost $1M at most, but even then we don't need him. We have 5 prospects better than him.

And Caps could do better than Panarin and a mediocre prospect for Ovechkin.

Coach killer theories is one of the dumbest out there. Hanlon wasn't a good coach + the team was just bad in general. Firing Boudreau was on the dumb GM at the time. Hunter was always planned to be an interim coach. Oates was possibly one of the dumbest coaches to ever coach in the NHL (again GMGM's fault). So if you remove Hunter as an actual coach since he said from the beginning he wasn't staying that 4 different coaches Ovi has had. You know how many Crosby has had? 4.

I'm not even going to touch on those UFA signings...both of those players are essentially out of the NHL, especially Cooke.

Pouliot for a first is crazy. This isn't like NHL 17 where he has a ton of value. ClockReads2113 was exactly right when he said that if he wasn't a bust, he would have at least seen some ice time in the playoffs, but he didn't. If Pittsburgh was comfortable with him, they also wouldn't have brought in insurance policies like Mark Streit in case of even more injuries.

Ovechkin is not being traded. He had a down year in terms of goal scoring, but all other phases of his game were outstanding. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 40-45 goals again next season. Panarin is a very good piece, but giving up the face of the franchise for someone who we have players similar to (Burakovsky, Vrana in the near future) doesn't make sense at all.

Sure but that happens to all players as they age. It will happen to Crosby and Malkin. Ovi can still get you 40-50 goals a year. Had a bit of a "down year" but that was more on his linemates. He plays better with speed, Backy and Oshie are not that fast. With Kuzey his numbers are great and the GM already said that Kuzey is looking to be his center this year. He's not even close to "old news".

He doesn't NEED to be gone. He gets paid to score goals and puts up points, that's exactly what he does. All that being said, I have no problem trading Ovi, you should never not trade player if a good deal comes up.

Crosby never won a Cup, his team did, that's the big difference here. If Ovi was in PIT he would have Cups and there's no discussion of coach killing.

in the last 3 season ovi has 20 more goals than the closest player.....thats with him having a down year. also his point totals are about the same just more assist than goals....

also you are giving crosby way too much credit.....pens are good bc they picked from 03-06 they either picked 1st or 2nd over all.....(fluery malkin crosby staal) malkin crosby would be considered top 3 in the lst 10 years ovi also being in that top 3...
