I'm not even going to touch on those UFA signings...both of those players are essentially out of the NHL, especially Cooke.
Pouliot for a first is crazy. This isn't like NHL 17 where he has a ton of value. ClockReads2113 was exactly right when he said that if he wasn't a bust, he would have at least seen some ice time in the playoffs, but he didn't. If Pittsburgh was comfortable with him, they also wouldn't have brought in insurance policies like Mark Streit in case of even more injuries.
Ovechkin is not being traded. He had a down year in terms of goal scoring, but all other phases of his game were outstanding. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets 40-45 goals again next season. Panarin is a very good piece, but giving up the face of the franchise for someone who we have players similar to (Burakovsky, Vrana in the near future) doesn't make sense at all.
