It’s a fair offer for Garland but I’m not sure that the Canucks want to move him. If they move a winger it would likely be Mikheyev

Garland wasn’t bad, but he is overpaid and no one is giving up a 2nd for him

If they moved him for this they would have done it already I expect a simple buyout

Garland is worth his contract. He’s been one of the Canucks best forwards this season and a crucial part of our success. He’s just not putting up as many points as the last couple seasons, but I’d say he’s playing better overall and has been well worth his cap hit this year

Ok I’ll give you he is having a good season, but why are the Sharks trading a top 40 pick for a 30+ forward?

Garland is only 28, but still you’re right that it doesn’t make sense for SJ to trade for him

I love it when fans assume a player is overpaid and not liked by a franchise. If Garland wants to stay, I see no reason to trade him.

His value likely isn’t high enough for Vancouver to give up on him, but he’s solid and would be expensive to replace. That’s basically 1/2 the starters in the league

He has a lot of value for Vancouver and is doing well, sharks are not in position to trade for him, especially with Sharks having Granlund who is very similar player. I could see interest if we move Granlund but not for a high 2nd

My assumption is Granlund doesn’t have the value to other teams that he does to San Jose.

Assume you mean Garland? Either way, it’s one of the reasons that trades don’t happen all that often. Coming up with equal valuations when you consider role, salary, fit within structure, and fit within locker room is tough

I did and I agree. It’s hard to move a guy who is more valuable to your team than the league feels he is. I would say the same about Sturm for us, and Quite a few players for you guys! Still think that Lindholm deal was dumb, Calgary fleeced you guys.

Not a Canucks fan, but I don’t think it was as big a fleece as some suggest. I want to see what Hunter does at the AHL. He’s played well this year, but that jump is huge especially for players whose talent level is not elite. His teams best player last year sucked in the AHL and frankly he was a considerably more productive player as an older player in the OHL.

I think they were concerned that Petterson was not going to resign and got an insurance policy that allowed them to take a harder line position. In retrospect, I think they’d be better off with a forward

I just really like Kuzmenko and felt giving him up plus a 1st for a rental in a down season was a bad move. I might be wrong time will tell.

Kuzmenko isn’t a player most winning teams would want. To me, that was an intelligent salary dump.

I guess your right since they dumped him, but I feel next year he bounces back to 30+ goals.
