Description
Mittlestadt takes bridge deal. LOC starts season on IR.

This is how I would predict the team would look if they didn't trade anyone to gain more cap space.

Bridge deals are what you do for players who will finish said deal as an RFA. Mitts has already been bridged before. Why would he take 4.5 when they gave the 3C 4, and 4LW 2.5?

He would take his QO and walk to FA before taking a bridge.

That's a good question cause I Googled mittelstadt contract and before he got traded a a website was saying they predict 2-3 year bridge deal for 4 million or long term 6x6 million. I was going off what they put

There are several comparable examples of players very much like Mitts taking bridge or bridge-like deals more than once; D Strome and Zacha come to mind. It may be that guys like that just don't get 7-8 year contracts, period, but I can see a scenario where Mitts and his camp say, "I'm going to get my value up by playing on a contender, maybe win a Cup or two then become a UFA at 28 and cash in at that point." We're used to guys taking long-term deals because why wouldn't they when it's guaranteed money but there are players who prefer to have flexibility. I do think he'd come in closer to $5M on a deal like this but it isn't farfetched.

If he's worried about getting his value up to cash in, taking a one year deal to bet on himself so that he enters UFA as early as possible, and with the cap taking it's last big jump before returning to more minor increases would be the move. It's a gamble he would probably take, especially in Landeskog returns to form.

Previous comps are going to take a 10% bump this year.
