Description
A youngsters 3rd line, a defensively minded checking 4rth line. Everyone on the 4th line moves up and down the linup as needed. I would call this one realistic. It's Lyubushkin or someone else at that cap hit as the bottom RHD. Everyone wants a trade, but I don't see one happening. They have alot of players that they can play at LW or Center. Keeping Samsonov would be smart. There is only so much they can do. Of course Giordano either retires or they resign him. It would be a bad look for the organization if they weren't loyal to him.

I think that 3rd line will get eaten alive. Overall lack of experience there. The skill is there though, but I can see Keefe not using it much. Already doesn't trust Robertson. Minten is a crap shoot (I feel a year with the Marlies does him more good than harm). Holmberg maybe the only player he would play regularly.

Overall not too bad, pretty realistic possibility of most of this happening since their cap situation is tight and have limited valuable trade pieces. Few notes I’d point out though:

1. Gio is likely done. His play has only declined and his role is decking every day. There’s not much left in his tank and it seems like he wants to end his career in Toronto. Likely retired this summer and definitely not re-signed.

2. I’m not opposed to bringing Samsonov back, but I can’t see him taking a 1 year deal again. He was quite clear that signing a shorter term deal with no commitment from the team affected his mental part of the game, gotta think he’d be looking for a 2-4 year deal and that’s something this team can’t do. After arbitration last year it seems like his time is done in Toronto.

3. The defence is pretty realistic. Hakanpää would be a great fit on the bottom pair - he’s big and nasty to play against. As much as I’d love Roy, I think he’s a pipe dream in Toronto as he’s the best free agent available. Just don’t think they’ll spend that kinda money this off-season until they know what’s going on with Marner and Tavares. I’ve heard they’re looking to upgrade the 2LD spot and keep McCabe on the right for the year as he’s played great on his off-side.

4. I think 1 of or both of Robertson and Järnkrok are dealt. Robertson may be a lock to be dealt as he doesn’t have a spot on the roster and Järnkrok may be a cap causality. I think both of them have decent value that can bring in a positive asset to help.

5. Seems like Domi is gonna be coming back. He’s started to gel with the team and becoming a more consistent driver of the forward core. Remove Minten (likely starts in the AHL), Giordano (retired), and Järnkrok and they have the money to re-sign him. He wants to be there so good chance he doesn’t ask for a high cap hit but more term.

This is what I came up with as a realistic off-season look for the team, not that either one of ours is 100% right but I just think that mine shows that there are possibilities of major changes to be made either by trade or free agents:

But again, overall this thread is pretty well done
