So why is Ottawa trading 6 years of Norris for 1 year of Ullmark?

You also awarded Boston a 2nd?

How nice of you.

How many season ending shoulder surgeries does Norris have to have before you start worrying about his long term future? He was barely touched on the play that caused his most recent injury, but he’s basically missed the past 1.5 years with multiple surgeries.

Boston is likely going to be one of the most appealing options for pending free agents and they should be able to trade Ullmark for picks if they want to clear more money (let’s say to sign two top free agents). You better have complete faith that Norris is coming back and if you do, my bet is Ottawa isn’t trading him.

I’d rather focus on another player in a deal if Ullmark would even consider Ottawa. What’s the likelihood Chychrun stays in Ottawa?

I wouldn't touch that Norris contract with a 10 foot pole given his injury history and the fact that he's never really played to that level. One 55 point season (35 goals, I get it) does not get you and 8x8 normally. Ullmark can be used elsewhere for a C or for picks

Yet the OP still wants the worthless Norris.

He actually places the worthless Norris as his 1C.

Funny how that works. 🙄

Who cares about Chychrun?

He's one of the most overrated D in the NHL.

Doesn't mean he has no value.

This trade is a rip off special.

Ullmark not waiving for Ottawa. Boston not taking the risk of that tissue paper shoulder.

Placing a player at 1C doesn’t make him a 1C. You should know that as well as anybody . San Jose has a bunch of players that shouldn’t be in their current positions wink

The Norris contract is scary with his injured shoulder history. If Ottawa is offering him in the deal, I honestly don’t want it.

I like Norris as a player. If he’s healthy, I’d rather have him than Ullmark. I’d rather have Ullmark’s contract right now.
