I don't want cap dumps taking young players spots tbh. a 3rd isn't much to take on RyJo

Habs don’t need cap space so they wouldn’t give up a 3rd to dump Dvorak. Dvorak at the TDL with salary retained isn’t a negative asset. He would be a pretty good 4th liner on a contending team that gives that team center depth and PK depth. I could see Dvorak return at the TDL a 4th for the Habs and 5th for whoever retains 50% of his cap.

It's only a season and in the worst case you just waive him. I see 30-40m in cap space as free real estate. Get more picks

Unless he pulls up his socks 4.4m is a hell of a lot for a dude with 4th line production, even if you retain.

If they aren't pressed to move him, all good. Can't see him being worth anything though.

No I'd rather sign Free Agents who can actually contribute to fill any holes that the young guys can't. But I don't want to see another scenario where players like Bordeleau and Thrun get sent down because their not able to be claimed on waivers, while guys like Hoffman and Labanc are still up with the big club

That’s why I traded for cap dumps and acquired picks with them. Just stop gaps for a year until the young guys are ready

Yeah I'm saying i'm not a fan of that. They had to take on those guys to move Karlsson, but now they can really start to inject the new guys. Gushchin, Bords, Thrun, and Shakir I think should be full time NHLers. I'd rather swing big on a good UFA with short term than to take on a negative value player for a meh pick.

If you have 30-40m in cap space why not take on bad contracts for picks?

None of those prospects aside from Shakir, Thrun, and Bordeleau should be full time NHL’ers, and I have 2 of those in the lineup

Musty very well could make it. Thompson should be right there on the Right side. I think Smith should go back another year but if he bulks up in the summer I could see him making it. If they luck into getting Celebrini, he's NHL ready, skill and physicality wise. And there are better players
