  4. Choix de 3e ronde en 2025 (PHI)
Détails additionnels:
Calgary would get whoever Philly picked with Florida's 1st rounder
Johansen and Petersen only have the 1yr left so not a big deal in the grand scheme of things
Johansen can still win over 50% of his faceoffs and he'd be the only Righty Center the Flames would have
Petersen can be called up and send down as needed, super unlikely he gets claimed
PHI
  1. Hunt, Dryden
  2. Vladar, Daniel
Détails additionnels:
In a hypothetical world where Hanifin, Guentzel, Lindholm, Duchene, Reinhart, Stamkos or Marchessault or etc decide that they want to join Philly, Flyers want them and need cap space

Calgary has no use for Petersen and his 5 mil cap hit. They need to move a goalie (preferably Markstrom) not bring in a cap dump goalie.

Calgary has 18mil in cap space so why not use it if the oppurtunity arises.

Moving Markstrom would barely help Calgary it would be better to keep him to mentor Wolf

zero chance this happens

non-zero chance that johansen either is on ltir next all year or has his contract terminated before the offseason

He's not hurt so not sure how you put him on LTIR but, nothing is impossible. Buying him out is an option but again this is only hypothetical what if Philly attracts 1 or 2 high end FA they'd need the money.
Also the 1st is Florida's not the Philly one so likely in the 25-32 range not the 10-20 range (unsure where Philly will finish)

Flyers don't need to dump Petersen because they won't be signing 30 year old UFA's looking for big contracts. Also they can just move Ellis to LTIR to get 6mil in extra cap space.

Fair enough if Philly decides to ignore the FA market, again this is hypothetical

But, I checked if they sign 2 guys to deals in the 7.5mil range than they'll need to do more than just LTIR Ellis
Roperttos a aimé ceci.

They can put the cap space to far better use than wasting it on a goalie they have no use or need for! Centers and right shot forwards with a good combination of size, speed, skill and compete/pushback/grit are Calgary's biggest need. A good top 6 LD would be nice too.

You're talking like Petersen is on the team I put together he's in the AHL, Markstrom and Wolf are the goalies. The trade is about acquiring a 1st round prospect.

If you think all Calgary needs to do is flash the cap space it has and sign UFAs to big contracts and all their problems will be solved than you're just way too optimistic.

Calgary isn't high on UFAs desired destinations and also have 11 forwards signed that deserve full time NHL spots.

If Peterson is in the AHL that's even worse and makes my point, he's a useless cap dump. Calgary will use their cap space better than that.

Yes there are plenty of UFAs who will sign for money or a better opportunity... Besides UFAs there are players requesting trades and RFAs whose teams can't afford to resign them. UFAs aren't the only way to use cap space.

Calgary isn't low on UFA desired destinations either.
