Description

- mixed sources about buch say he's being traded/not traded
- he still has nis ntc and i would like to believe he would waive it for nyr
- he rumored value is the equivalent of two first rounders for him at 50% and this is slightly above
- instead of 2 physical picks, they get a first + the rangers top d prospect (who can play in the nhl right away) plus one of the better forward prospects (excluding othmann and perreault)
- although if they prefer actual picks, i see the rangers have no problem in sending a first instead of these prospects or swapping years for the picks
- if the rangers are to only make one more move today, it could very likely be this
- recently bias makes nyr fans overvalue vatrano but i don't think he will move the needle as much as buch will (plus guess who nyr plays tomorrow aka their first game back after the deadline)

rangers have made obvious they won't be moving othmann, kakko or perreault unless they're blown away by something. love buch, but even with the extra year, he's not worth giving up one of those three + a first (or more)

as much as i do agree with this, drury has been pretty good with keeping rumors behind closed doors. since he took over, there have only been 4 players that have been 'expected' to be moved to the rangers. of those 4, three happened (kane, wennberg and goodrow with yesterday being the first 'blunder') and even yesterday, the rangers were truly a finalist. they were stubborn on who they didn't want to move (which works for me) and i don't think the pens would've sent him to nyr anyway. although the canes seem to have gotten him at a steal of a price... but they were also very clear on no contract extension prior. so who knows, nyr might've seen that as a deal breaker

Jones is nothing resembling anything that should be called "top D prospect" - he's 23, small and can't defend. He would be of no interest to the Blues, who want to rid their D of such players, not add more. Also, you're not keeping that 24 1st in any Buch trade with nickels and dimes added on.
