As I mentioned elsewhere, I think duke should get no less than a 2nd. Sharks have been in talks about extending him, he's point per game in his last 11 games on the thinnest roster the Sharks have maybe ever iced, and Mantha got a 2nd and 4th with only slightly better production but higher cap hit. Duke can also turn it on in the playoffs, which adds a lot of value.

I think they'd be willing to give up a 4th/5th for a 3rd party team to retain, to make it happen. CAR retained $1,375,000 for only a 6th as the third party team so I think that wouldn't be too far off.

I just dont see it. I get why Tarasenko got so little with the NTC but you compare Duclair to him (signed 1 year FA deal where a lot of teams passed), the interest is also lower. His stats are inflated from playing 18+ minutes in that recent stretch and 16+ on the season. Mantha has played an entire 2 mins less per game, which adds up a lot over time.

I could be wrong, and i guess we will see. If SJS prefers to extend than sell for less than a 2nd then i would think its possible he stays, i just dont see it.

I can see some team offering a 2nd for him. My prediction for a duke to islanders trade is Wally + 3rd '25

Don't see the Hawks spending a 3rd on a reclamation project. Hawks might have interest if Wahlstrom is included in some sort of larger deal.

Not really sadly. Hawks don't need Wahlstrom. So moving on.

You cannot compare Tarasenko to either Mantha or Duclair. He had a NTC and all the leverage. As for TOI as a comparison, you'll frequently see 3rd line grinders with better Pts/60 than superstars and that's because they're getting favorable matchups and are deployed strategically. Mantha is getting 3rd line minutes and getting the easier matchups, while Duke is on the first line with Granlund and Zetterlund. I love all three of those guys but their not exactly 1st liners you want going against Mcdavid, Matthews, Kucherov, etc.

thats a pretty disingenuous argument lol. You dont know how Mantha matches up against opponents and Duclair will be playing against 3rd and 4th lines a lot because the games will be blowouts. Purely on numbers Duclair has done less, but ig we will see

At least with a 3rd round pick they can pick their OWN disappointment.

Well maybe Wahistrom is included in a deal to dump Anders Lee as one example. Or Wahlstrom just stays on the island. The chances of him "breaking out" on the Hawks doesn't seem likely.
