Why would DET even consider this? Doesn’t make much sense. With Seider and Raymond getting paid in the summer, they could use Berggren on next year’s roster with a cheap cap hit.

Value aside, makes no sense for the Red Wings. Why would they be interested in a draft pick that, even if they hit, likely won't help the team for 4-5 years?

What else would they get for a prospect who hasn't played much at all? I guess he could be a piece of a bigger trade but the longer he doesn't see NHL ice, the lower his value will be.

Yes, I agree. Related to the trade chatter. Will be even be around next season? Will he earn a spot over other young guys like Kasper, Danielson, etc?

Another player with the similar position of too good for AHL yet team for some reason won't call him up?
A reclamation project?
Be apart of a larger package?
Could be traded for a newspaper. There are things that are tradeable that aren't Jonatan Berggren and draft picks. Ones that have Detroit upgrading their roster make significantly more sense than trading for a 16/17 y/o.

I don't think the first two suggestions have a much value. But if you don't like the pick and would prefer a player, that's fine.
