TB should say absolutely not then Gauthier and Howard should be untouchable. If TB wants Hanifin figure it out in the off-season if that's the demand.

They're not winning it this year, so giving up almost NHL ready assets they'll need us moronic. Hanifin Guarantees either Stamkos or Hedman are gone next season if you resign him.

kucherov is younger than hedman and at this point stamkos and to some degree hedman are not very effective anymore. The offense is basically just kucherov, point and hagel who will all be with the team for a while and the prospect pool is the best it has been since like 2015, they have a shot at turning things around with a retool as they dont have any really bad anchor contracts and can get guys in FA. It just doesnt make sense to mortgage the future for this team and hanifin who they might be able to get in FA anyway. If they dont get hanifin there are other good defenseman they could get in FA and I dont see them making it far in the playoffs this year even if they get hanifin

What part of Hedman or Stamkos didn't you understand never did I mention Cirelli or Cernak as neither would be moved.

why would you choose Cirelli/Cernak over Stamkos/Hedman?

As long as Hanifin is getting extended for sure, then I would likely do this trade. Hanifin improves the blueline tremendously, and it keeps him out of potentially two of Tampa's biggest rivals for the foreseeable future. Some Tampa fans are assuming the team can just sign him over the summer, but there are other teams he will sign with. It's a very large gamble for Tampa to take, and a poor one imo vs moving a '26 1st and a prospect.

Tampa can also keep both Stamkos and Hanifin next year, as the only way Stamkos should be re-signed is if he signs for something in the 5 aav range. If he wants something larger, he can get it elsewhere imo while Tampa uses that space to look at other ufa F options.
