Devils fans are irrationally attached to seamus, even though they have Hamilton, Marino and Nemec for an eternity.

At some point they need to be in the yellow banana business, as Jeff would say.

the flames i think

I don't think NJD wants to buy. They retained 50% while getting a 4th back on Tanev Today. Maybe they were taking some ammo with the cap space they have. Should they fire Lindy Ruff?

The devils aren’t giving away our best non NHL prospect like it’s nothing.

See how trades work is that you give up something and you get something in return. What seems to be the issue!?

What were we supposed to learn exactly!?

We wanted a 1st or Top Prospect for Tanev and received a 2nd + Former 2nd Round Pick that Conroy really likes and feels we need and fits with what we have coming up on the Wranglers. We had to retain and get a bonus 3rd Round Pick if DAL makes the Cup Finals

Are we not supposed to be wishful, hopeful and optimistic!? The majority of ppl on here and on the internet and YouTube and all the insiders are shocked the Flames didn’t hold out longer and get that 1st, so I’m not sure what we’re supposed to have learned exactly!?

Are you suggesting the market is soft for Defensemen this year or something or what’s your point exactly!?

I’m suggesting you lower your expectations for the caliber of prospects you think you’ll get

The issue is NJD giving up much more than any realistic comparable for a deadline rental.

I think Calgary fans have gotten very enamoured with this massive haul associated with a “sign and trade” which isn’t a realistic thing that happens in the NHL rental market.

Hard to do that when we get Brzustewicz who has an A- CF Rating and is killing it in the OHL and Jurmo has a B+ CF Rating and then you hear Holtz is being offered for Markstrom

I know the ratings are debatable, but most feel Brzustewicz is ~= Casey

You look at the returns guys like Chiarot & Savard brought or Chychrun, Hampus Lindholm and Orlov brought and you start going, hey those are the comps and your bias says my guys are better
It is what it is man and we’re all just guessing, hoping, wishing and praying for the best y’know

We’ve had that conversation but if it becomes known a player wants to play in a certain area or conference or simply the states but a team doesn’t want to give up all those assets unless they know the guy will stay long-term, what do you think they do!?

Their agents are given permission to discuss & negotiate and deals are pre-negotiated ahead of time so the GM’s can complete the deal. That’s the reality of it

In terms of Casey vs Bruz people haven’t realized how far the OHL has fallen.

Casey is arguably the best dman in college (not just in terms of points but in terms of analytics as well)

Every time they’ve been stacked up, whether it’s a role at Michigan, the US development team, where they get drafted, and for the world Juniors, the big decision makers for hockey have time and again shown they view Casey as a tier above.

Yes, we’ve had that conversation before as well and you make good points. I’m just explaining what I think most ppl, who aren’t in the know about Casey like you are, feel given the resources and knowledge they have and use

I would not give two hoots about any non roster player on that team. It's winning time, buy Markstrom and Hanifin, maybe you don't make it this year but assuming it's a long term fit, it's a great idea.

Speculations about where he'll sign sound pretty scattered originally it was only Boston, then he was going to resign, now it's Tampa. Jerseys not far from Boston, it's just as plausible as anywhere else.

Irrationally attached isn't correct he just has an extremely high ceiling from everything he's shown, I do think you're correct about the right side though too many RHD not enough quality on the left. I'd be fine moving casey in a deal for Hanifin just not with Bahl and a 1st.

Lefts getting clogged too, give us Siegenthaler? Get more value elsewhere, but, sell Seignthaler, make room for Hanifin or another more legitimate top pair guy while Hughes grows into tge position? Settle Bahl into the 3rd pair?

Yeah I'd be fine with any of that. Just need a different flavor on the devils D if that makes sense too many all offense or all defense dmen on the team and in the system I think the lack of versatility holds them back.

Little crazy, but I'd think about moving off of Timo before trade protection kicks in. His playoffs weren't amazing, this year has been injury plagued.

Look at how younger potentially cheaper guys stepped up in his absence, shift the money to D and goal or keep Mercer and Holtz or whatever.

Meier has been fine considering his ice time has been cut by a few minutes while being stuck on the 3rd line with guys like Tierney/Lazar all year and has had no PP1 time just needs to wait for Ruff to get canned. Not to mention he's been injured a couple times I'm not worried about him.

The guy that stepped up big time for cheap was McLeod and he isn’t coming back
