Blackhawks got a 1st for Mrazek (2 years left) and a 2nd (13 spots back). Value that taking on Campbell would be around a 1st, so roughly Holloway for Toffoli, Lazar, and Smith.

Really high on Holloway initially he fills Mcleod's spot, then bumps up to 2nd line faceoff man for Hughes soon.

No, but they did some cap based trades like Mueller, Subban, Siegenthler where they traded with teams with less cap space for better deals.

Also the Devils need to start getting prospects back in the system, badly. With Nemec in the NHL the only highly rated prospect they have left is Casey.

Mrazek had 2 years at 3.8 million and was still an NHL goalie. I’d value him at 2 mill AAV, or about 3.6 mill dumped

Campbell has 3.3 years at 5 million and is not an NHL goalie. 16.5 million dollars overall dump, 13 or so mill if buried.

If Campbell only cost a 1st to dump he’d have been out fo Edmonton a LONG time ago.

Mueller's salary went down after he arrived with NJD.
Siegenthaler signed $1.125m x 2 years after he arrived.
Subban we got cheaper than expected because of the cap hit, but hardly a cap dump.
Last cap dump we took was Marc Savard in 2016, who had one year at $4m AAV (but ~$600k real money), was on IR, we had 2nd most cap space in the league.

Holloway is not worth taking Campbell.

As for the prospects...we don't need to build a whole team....just have steady supply of bodies coming in on ELC. Our core is largely set.
Casey, Gritsyuk, Vilen, Hameenaho, Filmon, Clarke, Stillman, Hatakka, Musyul, Bardakov, Edwards, Hauser, Leddy...all could be guys to fill holes.

(and as long as we have Bahl on 2nd pair...that is our biggest hole to fill besides goalie)
