I’ll preface by saying I don’t think this will happen. I don’t think the timing is right for either team. But if Colorado does want Mittelstadt, and IF he’s remotely available, this is probably their best chance before the market widens in the summer. I could see that path looking something like this.

I’ve seen some Avs fans here say they can’t afford Mittelstadt, which is partially true. They would have to make some tough roster decisions over the next couple of years, just like any competitive/capped-out team making a significant addition.

Things start to get tight with Rantanen and Byram extensions. Rantanen should get something similar to Pastrnak & Nylander. Byram is harder to project, as is the rest of the roster, but this gives an idea about Colorado’s potential cap structure in this scenario. Starting goaltender is the biggest hole to address post-Georgiev.
