Neither of Fabbro or Glass is a worth a first imo. Putting them together and taking Faksa doesn’t change that if you’re a smart GM. Glass is a little cheaper than Faksa but isn’t as good defensively. Delly has struggled this year but I don’t think he’s a toss in for a trade just yet. Something like Faksa, Kyrou, and a second for Fabbro might be worth a look. But then I think there’s better options out there at that price point

That chart shows how much of an advantageous position Novak has been put into (2nd in the league in offensive zone start%). His defensive responsibility on the Preds is close to zero, which doesn’t bode well for his value to playoff teams looking for a middle-six center.

Hes a scoring center. Hes not supposed to be deployed defensively, that’s not his role. Monahan was sheltered with terrible defensive analytics and received a first.

That’s not true at all - Monahan has 42% offensive zone starts this season, Novak has 82% offensive zone starts.

There is not a single center in the league who is more sheltered than Novak.

Monahan faced a relatively low quality of comp as well. Zone% aren’t really a good argument anyway, when a vast majority of deployment comes from on the fly.

I’m sure asking for a pick in the 28-32 range isn’t a stretch for an 800k center that can add to a teams playoff run.

That’s more than 1/3 of the league between their defensive responsibilities, and barely more than 50% of Novak’s starts have been on-the-fly - a large portion of which are oriented toward the offensive zone anyway.

What does that change? Monahan sucks, but still warranted a first. The center market is thin and multiple teams are interested.

I’m still dying on this hill. You don’t wanna pay? Keep moving.

You were the one who compared him to Monahan in the first place even though they’re not really comparable in their roles. I don’t even want the Rangers to acquire Novak, I’d rather they targeted Sissons.
