COL deal seems fine though they might need to throw in a later pick.

TOR needs to throw in more. Mantha alone would be Robertson+3rd maybe, Edmundson with money eaten is a 3rd, maybe more.

DAL and CAR deals are fine.

TBL is a maybe. Sheary is having a poor year with 2 more years on his deal but if they think he can be a good 4th liner I'll take a 2nd for him.

Colorado deal would be fine if Kuemper was the goalie going back. But Lindgren is this teams backbone. Getting rid of him would indicate a rebuild in my eyes as they are accepting subpar goaltending for the rest of the season. Dowd himself could probably get Colorado's first rounder as its going to be in the late twenties to 30s anyway.

Edit - Kuemper has the ability to be good/great, just not in the Capitals system

There’s no team that would take Kuemper rn imo. and it wouldn’t make sense for the caps to lose value in a trade in order to get him off the roster considering all the cap space they have

If he only had 1-2 years left I think a team would take a chance on him. But 3.5 years left on that deal is not worth the gamble of him bouncing back in a different system

Edit: but if you retained 40-50% salary on Kuemper that would interest some teams I’d think

Natural fit for patches if he and the Canes are willing for a
Reunion. I do think that he’s not at the top of the targets list, so other things would have to fall thru for them.

The COL deal needs more for COL side, they are getting 2 guys who combined make 2.4 mill for another season or more, and moving out cap in johansen who is not performing much better than dowd. dowd gets you a first
lindgren gets something more than a low end prospect and a cap dump.

My thinking for Sheary is that he was pretty good here in Washington and reuniting the Ovi Strome Sheary line would always be an option that could help Ovi get going again. Other points I agree with, just didn't want to overestimate returns. Very interested to see what exactly Mantha returns in reality.

I'm pretty interested in Behrens, but maybe overvalued him as a piece coming back. Maybe another pick would make sense, especially with taking on Johansen.
