No the pens would not need to add for that, March is a middle six forward, if they think they can resign Jake then that deal is good as is imo.

Every year a new fanbase goes through the same song and dance about how their rental player is special and so much different than every other rental that's been moved in the last 10 years and will definitely get more than exactly one first, one second, and one above average prospect. Blues fans went through it with ROR and Tarasenko last year, hell even a lot of Caps fans with Orlov. Guentzel is no different.

Is Guentzel objectively "worth" that much even as a rental? Maybe. Would it be an insane overpay based off of the last ~10 years of history? Absolutely.

This is an insane payment for Guenztel. 1st + 3rd + top prospect + good T9 winger for a rental forward. Teams don't even really pay 1st + top prospect for rentals, let alone the extra. And Dallas isn't hurting for forwards, they're hurting for defense.

A team with strong forward depth isn't making that overpayment for a rental winger, even a very good one. If anything, simply because they don't need him.
